Leather Care

Different leathers require different care but in general all leather can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not rub vigorously though as it may remove colour. Our soft bag and soft wallet leathers should always be sprayed with a leather waterproofer before use. This will aid in repelling spills so that they bead off the leather and not soak in. Should your bag become wet there is a risk of it drying with a salt line. The best approach is to dry it naturally by stuffing the bag with paper (not printed) and leaving it in a warm dry place. It may feel stiff after this and require leather dressing. Use a leather cream for this. You should choose one with the consistency of thick moisturiser. Follow the instructions on the pack but always test a small inconspicuous area first. If you spill a sugary or coloured liquid in the bag, it is best to wash the entire bag in warm water to dissipate the colours and sugar in the spill. Use the drying and conditioning methods above in this case. This is not a fool proof method but will give better results then letting the stain dry.

Care of Kangaroo Leather

Our kangaroo range of leather goods are made from vegetable tanned leathers that are very resilient. They should not require much leather care other than a wipe down with a damp cloth if needed. Your kangaroo card slots should last a long time if treated correctly. Please do not overfill with cards as this will stretch the leather making it loose. 2 cards per slot should be the maximum. Should the leather need conditioning please use a light leather cream dressing and follow the instructions. Always test on a inconspicuous area first and only run on the smooth skin side of the leather not the flesh side.

Leather Jewellery

Our leather jewellery is not designed for wear in water, it will age them prematurely. Magnetic clasps should be opened by gripping the metal component not the leather. If the components tarnish they can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth. Leather cords will become rough over time and can be rubbed with a leather oil to restore the finish.
